Obituary For Arthur George Robinson

Arthur Robinson was born to Lillie Mae Reno and James Moten on the 24th of October 1961 in Yazoo City, Mississippi. He grew up on the southside of Chicago in the Roseland area where he attended Fenger Academy.

Arthur worked at various jobs up to working at Sunshine Food and Liquor as a butcher. Arthur was a pillar of the Roseland community known as the “Sunshine Man”.

Arthur was the proud father of four wonderful children: Adrian, Priestley Brown, Cedrena Banks, and Jessica Johnson-Lewis. Arthur loved his children and enjoyed speaking and spending time with them.

Arthur, better known as Lil George, would leave work to hang out at the juke joint named My Friend’s Place and the Two Aces to shoot pool, spend time with friends, afterwards, eat at White Castle, and then eat with Granny after hours.

Arthur loved to watch wrestling, Jerry Springer, and Maury. He also enjoyed bowling. His favorite beer was Icehouse. No one could ever say that they purchased drinks for him because he always had a suitcase if you know what I mean.

Arthur always had a big heart for family and friends. Heopened his home to anyone in need. Arthur always loved to play Big Daddy to all children and enjoyed being called “Grand Dad”. He loved to travel, attend sporting events, and even enjoyed the comedy show with Arnez J. He enjoyed attending the Chicago Classic Historical Black College University football game and afterwards ate at a great restaurant in the downtown area.

Arthur was not a fashion sense type of man but loved wearing the wife beater T-shirt, khaki pants, and his beloved Allstars.

Arthur’s mother, Lillie Mae Reno, and father, James Moten, preceded him in death.

Mouring the loss of Arthur but grateful for the peace he has found are his children: Adrian, Priestley Brown, Cedrena Banks(Clifford Cash), Jessica Johnson- Lewis (Darnell): two sisters: Bonnie O’Banner and Nadine Hibbler: two brothers: James Lee Robinson and Priestley Robinson (Marvis): and lastly, a host of other family members and friends outside of his immediate family who loved him.
