Obituary For James D Jones Jr

FAMILY
Today, we gather to honor and celebrate the life of James Davis Jones, Jr., the eldest of seven children born to James Davis Jones, Sr., and Nellie Lee Jones. James was born on September 18, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois.

As the oldest of seven siblings, James was a protective and guiding force who fiercely loved his brothers and sisters.

While attending Dunbar Vocational High School, James met the love of his life, Glenda M. Jones (Thomas). They were married on February 17, 1973. James was the proud father of four beautiful children born from this union, which lasted until his transition from this life. His family was his greatest treasure.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS
James achieved much during his time on earth. He graduated from Dunbar Vocational High School, where he honed his natural talent for drawing. He later attended the Control Data Institute of Chicago to study computer coding and repair.

James began his career at the Metropolitan Sanitary District of Greater Chicago as a wastewater treatment specialist. With his persuasive personality and a deep desire to help others, he also became a certified insurance broker and financial advisor. Over the years, he worked as a salesman, instructor, and public speaker.

James was a proud member of Toastmasters, where he refined his skills as a speaker and communicator. He also found joy and fellowship as a member of the New Rose of Sharon Male Chorus, where he shared his love for music and worship.

James credited his love for Jesus with saving him from death during some of the roughest years of his life. His faith led him to seek God more deeply, which he considered his greatest achievement. On July 2, 2002, James was ordained as a preacher at New Rose of Sharon Baptist Church in Chicago, IL. His devotion to helping others and his love for the Lord inspired him to work with funeral homes, offering comfort to grieving families through the insurance industry.

James was well-known for his impeccable suits and stylish hats. He loved to smile and make others smile, often sharing stories about historical events, growing up in the Robert Taylor Homes, or interesting Bible facts. Whenever possible, he proudly shared the accomplishments and talents of his grandchildren, who affectionately called him β€œG-Daddy.”

LEGACY
James will be deeply missed until we are reunited with him in everlasting glory with the Father.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Glenda (Thomas) Jones; his four adult children: Tracey Jones, Eric Jones, Brandy Jones, and Marva Jones; 14 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings: Michael Jones, Audrey (Brian) Kenner, Jennifer (Michael) Witherspoon, and McDaniel (Oneiko) Jones and a host of nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Nellie Jones; his siblings, Sandra Jones and Jerry Jones; and his nephew, Alonzo Jones.

To God be the glory!

He would always say "People say I look like Steve Harvey. I don't look like him he look like me I'm the oldest plus I wear my suits better "πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. Your big 50 girl and I will deeply miss you. When I told her we lost you her response was " Ma that was the last Granddaddy I had". Now you're singing in the heaven choir. Make sure you teach the angels Cooling Waters. We love the Jones family dearly and praying for y'all
