Dr. Trunell D. Felder.
John enlisted in the United States Air Force shortly after his 1952 graduation from the Indianola Colored High School. Serving his country was one of his greatest joys; preceded only by serving his God and family. Shortly after his honorable discharge from the Air Force in June 1957, John met and married the love of his life, Sarah Jane Coleman; they loved and cherished each other until her death in July 2008.

He was a driver for the City of Chicago: Streets and Sanitation division until his 1995 retirement.
John went home to Glory on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. He requested that NO "Remarks" be given at his homegoing; all he wanted to hear was "well done, my good and faithful servant".
John's foundational scripture was, Psalm 133; "How good and pleasant it is when brothers and sisters live together in unity. It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron's beard, down upon the collar of his robes. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there, the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore".
