Obituary For Johnnie Mae King
Mother Johnnie Mae was born to the late Willie Lee and Rovenia Crawford on July 8th, 1935, in Madison County, Alabama. She was the last surviving sibling of 11 children.
She was educated in the Madison County School System. She later relocated to Chicago, Illinois in 1957. In 1964, she met Willie King and they were united in Holy Matrimony on June 4th, 1966. They were married 45 years, until his passing in 2011.
Mother King was a true soldier for the Lord. She accepted Christ in November 1968 and never looked back. She was a Prayer Warrior, Missionary and Church Mother. She faithfully served God's people, answering whatever the call was. Whether it was President of the Missionary Board, Pastor's Aide Committee, Sunday School Teacher and Church Mother.
Mother King was affectionately called "Honey" by her family and close friends. Honey was feisty, and caring. She would do anything to help anyone, after she gave her opinion on the situation. She was an excellent cook and was famous for her pound cake, and dressing.
Mother King faithfully served the Lord until her last days. After receiving an unfavorable prognosis, she expressed her faith saying, it's in God's hand. Four days later he took her hand and took her home.
Preceding her in death was: her husband, Deacon Willie King; son, Larry Crawford; grandson, Keith Crawford; parents; 10 siblings; as well as her loving in-laws.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her stepdaughter, Wilhemina of Iowa City; grandchildren and great- grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; three Godchildren, Nichole (Adrian), Nina and Ja*Vonte.
